Well, I declare

Here’s this morning’s drill: Make coffee, check messages, check blog comments, get coffee, snicker at some of the responses, write blog.

Thanks for all of those who signed — we few, we happy few, we band of brothers and sisters. I wanted to respond to a couple going forward. Forgive me for not replying to all of them, but I would like to thank everyone for signing

Jose_X: Instead of LiveCDs, we should be dumping Windows 98 or XP CDs into the nearest waterway (that would be the San Lorenzo River).

Greg P: Taxation without representation indeed. Good parallel.

Coolhand Luke: Funny you should say that. “Lindependence Day — The Movie” is actually being shot as we speak. Footage will be going into a film that Christian Einfeldt is making about FOSS, as well as some of the same footage, and more, going into our own documentary on this particular project. Popcorn not included.

Stomfi: I remember Pigasus and the Yippies, although I was very young. I leaned toward Abbie rather than Jerry (Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin, for you kids out there — and get off my lawn !).

‘Rob Enderle’ . . . (NOT): Thanks for the laugh, whomever you are. I know you’re not the real Rob Enderle because the real Rob wouldn’t take time to get off his knees in constant prayer to the graven images on the Microsoft altar (I hope that’s what he’s doing on his knees) to take time to read a Linux blog. Congratulations on your Elmer last year, and it looks good for another in 2008.

Corfy: Very cool that your ancestor put pen to Declaration of Independence paper, and good Adams quote.

Andydread: Franklin quote, check.

Felipe “Revere”: Let me see if I remember, it’s one if by land, two if by C++ . . . ?

Jure: Everyone needs to heed your reply. That’s probably the best way to grow this movement.

fstephens: Your “second amendment” is classic. Thanks.

Susan: Compile (and Roy, if she is a Gentoo user, then she has my admiration, since there seems to be no more brave undertaking than running Gentoo).

Thanks again to all.

Sunny and 67 — and a good time for a redwood break.

Well, actually, the ‘not yet begun to Compile’ was supposed to be a play on John Paul Jones’ “I have not yet begun to fight” quote when his ship had been attacked and sinking and the British demanded he surrender. Compile – as in Open Source. The point of Open Source is to be able to modify the source code as we see fit and you have to compile it to use it. I thought it was so obvious and so witty. Had nothing to do with which distro I use, but nobody gets my sense of humor.

I got it, Susan. :-) I think most people with an inkling of American History got it as well. I couldn’t improve on it, but I wanted to recognize it and give you an A for history today.
